Los Angeles County also homes West Hollywood. It is surrounded by Beverly Hills, the Fairfax District, Hollywood Hills, Los Angeles, Beverly Grove and Hollywood. It has an estimated population of over 36,475 people.

West Hollywood is known for it’s glamours Sunset Strip. This strip is filled with restaurants, bars and nightclubs that have attracted travelers for many years. Another beloved favorite that is homes in West Hollywood is Melrose Avenue. This avenue is filled with clothing boutiques, antique shops, interior designs stores and restaurants. West Hollywood is also known for it’s music venues including: The Viper Room, Whisky a Go Go, House of Blues, The Troubadour and The Roxy Theatre. West Hollywood has many significant attractions that make tourists continue to visit. This city home the Comedy Club, Plummer Park, The Schindler House, Westlake Recording Studios and many others.

Pride shines bright in West Hollywood. This city has over 40% of it’s population apart of the LGBT community. This city first became pro-gay municipally in 1984 and has been praised for it ever since. It became the first city that started and pushes for gay marriages. Events are held in this city specifically for the LGBT community. These events include: Outfest, Los Angeles Gay Pride and the West Hollywood Halloween Costume Carnival. The West Hollywood Halloween Carnival is known as the largest Halloween party in the United States.

The West Hollywood city has a five member council and mayor to help with city issues and requests. The council is the first one to have majority of it’s members be apart of the LGBT community and identify as gay. West Hollywood is the 26th Senate District, the 50th Assembly Districts as well as California’s 28th Congressional District.

Since 1996 California has had cannabis legal for medical use and since 2016 it has been legal for recreational use. Business started getting licensed to sell cannabis in California after everything went into affect. One of the businesses to get approved for a cannabis consumption license was the Lowell Herb Co. This business made for the first cannabis cafe in the United States.
